Create your first recipe

In this guide you write a simple lemon dressing, save it, and find it again. It takes about five minutes.

  1. Open Recipes and choose New recipe.
  2. In Title, type Lemon dressing.
  3. In the first ingredient row, type 2 tbsp olive oil, just as you’d write it on a card.
  4. Choose Ingredient to add another row, and type 1 tbsp lemon juice.
  5. Add one more row: 1 pinch salt.
  6. In the first step, type Whisk the oil and lemon juice together.
  7. Choose Step to add a second step, and type Add the salt and stir.
  8. Choose Save recipe.

Your recipe opens with its three ingredients and two steps. Savorum splits each ingredient into an amount, a unit, and a name, so it can scale it later. Your wording is kept.

Go back to Recipes and type lemon in the search box. Your dressing appears in the results.

  • Press Ctrl+Enter (Command+Enter on a Mac) to add a row after the current ingredient or step.
  • A cup or a tablespoon is a different size in different countries, and Savorum won’t guess. Choose your country’s measures under Measurements, next to the Ingredients heading. Otherwise, Savorum marks unclear units for you to check. See Review measurements.
  • You can save a recipe with just ingredients or just steps, and finish it later.
  • The editor also has room for photos, equipment, oven temperatures, timings, and alternatives like “butter or margarine”. See Edit recipes.
