Accessibility

You can use Savorum with a keyboard alone. This page gathers the shortcuts and settings that help, says what hasn’t been tested yet, and shows how to report a problem. Savorum aims to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA.

Focus is always visible, and every control has a name. Pages work on narrow screens.

In your preferences, turn on Reduce motion, or choose a light or dark Color scheme. Savorum also follows your system’s reduced motion setting.

  • Press Ctrl+Enter (Command+Enter on a Mac) to add a row after the current ingredient or step.
  • Use the move buttons to reorder ingredients and steps. Your focus stays on the item, and its new position is announced. Anything you can drag, you can also move with these buttons.

See Edit recipes.

  • Steps are checkboxes you can tick off.
  • Press Space to finish a step, j or k (or the arrow keys) to move between steps, and t to open the timers. Headphone track buttons move between steps too. See Cook without touching the screen.
  • A finished timer is announced once. You can check the time left without hearing an update every second.

Savorum hasn’t been tested with a screen reader. It isn’t certified with VoiceOver and Safari, or with NVDA and Firefox or Chrome. Automated checks cover parts of this, but they don’t prove full WCAG conformance.

Recipe text people write, imported photos and files, other websites, and image descriptions people add may have problems Savorum can’t control.

Open an issue in the Savorum issue tracker. Include:

  • the page or task where it happened;
  • what you expected to happen;
  • your browser and operating system;
  • any assistive technology you use;
  • if you can, the keys you pressed.

Don’t include private recipes or account details.
